Fraud Awareness: Protecting Your Card Information
Have you seen or heard of someone trying to reach you, that felt suspecious recently?
With an increasing rate in "junk" calls, texts, and emails we get more and more comfortable not responding. That's great! However, it makes calls coming from parties that we trust that much more dangerous. Along with frequency, fraud is getting smarter as well. These calls can sound convincing and may even appear to come from a trusted phone number. Unfortunately, caller ID can be spoofed.
The goal of these scams is simple: to pressure you into sharing sensitive information.
🚫 What BluCurrent Will Never Ask For
If someone contacts you claiming to be from BluCurrent and asks for any of the following, hang up immediately:
- Your full debit or credit card number
- Your card PIN
- Your online banking password
- One‑time passcodes sent to your phone or email
BluCurrent will never request this information; by phone, text, or email.
✅ How Legitimate Fraud Alerts Work
When BluCurrent detects potential card fraud, our communication is simple and secure:
- You may receive a text, email, or automated call asking you to verify a specific transaction
- These alerts usually require only a Yes or No response
- We will never ask you to provide full card numbers, PINs, or passcodes
- Legitimate alerts will not pressure you or demand immediate action
If a call feels urgent, threatening, or rushed, it’s a red flag.
🛡 How to Protect Yourself
A few quick steps can help keep your account safe:
- Be cautious of unexpected calls asking for card or account details
- Don’t rely on caller ID. Phone numbers can be spoofed
- If you’re unsure, hang up and call BluCurrent directly using:
- The number on the back of your card, or
- The phone number listed on our official website
- If you believe you may have shared information, contact us immediately so we can help protect your account
